Really back breaking labor carrying 100-pound bags of dirt from the diamond hole to the sifting area; each bag will be laboriously sifted for diamonds.  Some of these digs are composed of hired crews of laborers working for a day rate.  There are perhaps thousands of these digs going on at any given time over an extended area around Kono.
